We recently caught up with Grant Chilcott, Director at Building Insight, to discuss our partnership value and chat through the impact of the Bitpool platform on their clients, unlocking value across their energy, government, tertiary education, emergency services and commercial portfolios.
Q: What prompted Building Insight to partner with Bitpool?
Grant:
We’ve known Peter Palonek for a long time, and that trust really laid the groundwork. We had confidence that Bitpool and the wider Partner Network could deliver real value to our clients.
We knew they understood the industry, and what stood out was how easy the system is to use. It was really fast to upload data, build dashboards, customise reports and provide peace of mind for clients with legacy systems with a physical and cyber safe backup solution in the cloud. Compared to traditional systems lacking in analytics, Bitpool’s efficiency measures are immediate. Our clients are getting robust, accurate numbers straight away, and that builds a deeper trust with our clients.
Q: Can you share an example where Bitpool made a real impact?
Grant:
Absolutely. One of our clients had an existing BMS, and they assumed energy reporting was being managed. But when the real estate division took over, they found a blank database. We stepped in, uploaded their data using LoRaWAN, and pulled it into Bitpool. Suddenly, they had dashboards and insights from what appeared to be an empty data pool.
Since then, the relationship has grown. There’s more BMS work coming our way, and the client gets a clear, real-time view of their building. They’ve even used Bitpool’s analytics to break down energy use across interconnected buildings to transform how they manage energy reporting and improve their tenant experiences.
And when you can deliver accurate numbers quickly, you create trust. That’s been a big shift for us and our clients.
Q: What other challenges has Bitpool helped solve?
Grant:
In one case, a client site had faulty meters. Using Bitpool, we could identify the discrepancies, replace the meters, and ensure the data was finally accurate. Another client in real estate couldn’t achieve a NABERS rating because they had no usable data and now, they’ve got full confidence in what they’re reporting.
One of the biggest differentiators for us is Bitpool’s analytics layer. It makes the BMS far more usable, and the reporting is clearer and easier to interpret. Clients can split data by building, tenant, or system. That means they can act on the information and store it safely.
Q: What’s the broader impact of Bitpool on your business?
Grant:
It’s really future-proofed us. With Bitpool, we’re providing immediate insights and leading edge solutions. One of our education clients has even reduced the number of people running their BMS because Bitpool improved efficiency through AI and embedded automation to that level. It’s helping our business push into new areas with confidence too.
Q: Final thoughts on the partnership?
Grant:
At the end of the day, we’re aligned in our mission, to make buildings and cities more accountable and efficient. Bitpool brings the tech, and we bring the practical application. Together, we’re helping clients move faster, make better decisions, and get more from their buildings.
The Bitpool platform also helps us future-proof our business and our clients’. It gives us the ability to scale, improve tenant experience, and drive efficiency with real-time, actionable insights. We’re helping our clients become more accountable, efficient, and ready for whatever comes next.
